I'd go a bit further than that. People just want what partly their biology determines them to want: Just live, have their 2 or 3 kids, have their relationship and a house of their own - not needing to worry about their jobs or money or even meaning in life, and then die a peaceful death with very few to no pain. Because that way of living is meaning to them.
Leftists and Greens and Anarchists whereas try to deliver a new concept to them of how keeping that up is possible - because the old one fails -, but a lot of that doesn't do that job. And people also recognize that. That's why they don't follow or run after these concepts.
