I do think this is a good use of technology, to give people more equality in their choices and conditions. But people who have no sense of history often assume it is simply a given that the sexes are equal and Why The Hell Not. I also find many people getting completely twisted up in wanting to make sure their particular identity is treated equal to other identities, while ignoring the capitalist structure to both inequality and equality. The "big picture". Why is it that we've seen advances in relations between the races and the sexes? Because capitalism likes it this way. Why is it that we're still arguing over these advances? Because capitalism likes it that way also. Capitalism is so happy that we're fighting over abortion rights instead of retaining a compromise that mostly worked for 50 years. Capitalism is so happy we're fighting over whether 2nd grade children should be taught about racial or gender issues. Capitalism wants people of every identity to be consumers and workers, but it wants them fighting with each other over it instead of looking upward at who is raking in all the cash.
