finished it

I finished Bedsit Disco Queen by Tracey Thorn last night before I fell asleep, so that's two Books of the Week down, although I needed an extra week for this book because last week I was pretty busy with both work and socializing. I recommend it if you're a fan of Ms. Thorn or Everything but the Girl. She writes about her life and the music industry with charm, humor, and insight. It's an easy read, with pictures and song lyrics.
So next I'll attack This Is China: The First 5,000 Years, which is a collaboration by over 40 contributors and editors who had previously put together a much larger (20x) encyclopedia on the history of China. This is the $10, 152-page "executive summary" of a 5-volume set that costs $800 and is intended for physical libraries. The preface claims the work is non-political; I'll let y'all know whether it is any good. I'm excited to read my first full history of China, though.
I wish I could read a book on each country's history, but there's about 200 countries, depending on the criteria used for recognizing them. At one per week that's a four year project all on its own. Though, some countries might not have a user-friendly history in English? It seems there's not a good one-volume study of Mauritius, for example. At least not on Amazon, maybe a research library would have something.

I'm hungry for breakfast, and I have an early morning meeting, then I'm probably heading to the condo this afternoon. I should do some yoga today before I dive into my butt toys. I'm excited about two days of butt toys after a couple weekends of splitting my time between T&B and myself.
